Recruiters who win the call

Whether it is a business development call to a hiring manager or a first call with a candidate, recruitment calls turn on a few objections. Merdial shows the reply that worked while they are still talking, and scores every call against your standard.

The short answer

Recruiters sell twice — to clients and to candidates — and both conversations happen on the phone. Merdial coaches each call live and scores it against a rubric you write for that kind of call, so business development and candidate screening each have their own standard.

Two kinds of call

A standard for each one

  • Business development and candidate calls can be separate accounts with separate rubrics
  • A candidate screen checks what your client asked for
  • A business development call checks for the role, the pain and a next step
New learning

“Been with them about three years now.”

Long incumbent tenure — the prospect is signalling inertia, not satisfaction.

Reply that worked

Ask what their last audit flagged. Three years is long enough for the contract to have drifted from what they actually need.

    “I’m happy where I am.”

A candidate who is not looking — yet.

FAQ

Straight answers

Can candidate calls and client calls be scored differently?

Yes. Each account has its own rubric and lead form, so you can run business development and candidate screening as separate standards in one workspace.

Does Merdial work with my dialler?

Yes. The Merdial desktop app for Windows 10+ and macOS 14.2+ captures the call audio on your computer — any dialler, softphone or meeting app — so it works beside whatever you already use, with no webhook or API key to set up.

What happens to card numbers said out loud on a call?

They are stripped, along with other personal identifiers, before the transcript reaches any generative model. That redaction is not optional and cannot be turned off to simplify a prompt.
